Backcountry Ski in Colorado

Backcountry Ski In Colorado

When the USA thinks skiing, they think Colorado! Denver airport is a major hub and only a few hours from the mountains. With many ski seasons in Summit County and Breckenridge, I know these mountains well. In fact, I have summited all 17 peaks you can see from Boreas Pass, just above town. And most summits as solo ascents in the winter.

Colorado is a great place to cut your teeth backcountry skiing. Many approaches are long and offer a great familiarization with the equipment before the climb and downhill sections. The alpine is easy to navigate and see what you are getting into. Lastly, the vibes of the prominent ski culture in Colorado makes for good energy before and after the slope.
